John McGrail is a clinical hypnotherapist and corporate performance coach located in the West
Los Angeles / Santa Monica area, serving both private and corporate clients throughout Southern
California, the U.S., and abroad.
John earned a BS degree from Cornell University and did graduate work in communication arts while serving as a commissioned officer and aviator in the United States Coast Guard. After distinguished careers in both military and commercial aviation and mass communications— film, television, and multimedia, he earned his certification in clinical hypnotherapy at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute , the nation’s first federally-accredited college of hypnotherapy. McGrail graduated with honors and was the recipient of the Director’s Award for outstanding academic and clinical achievement. John was further honored with a special award for outstanding performance as an HMI clinical resident. He is frequently invited back as a guest lecturer and student career consultant. He will also soon complete his studies for a doctoral degree in Clinical Hypnotherapy.
In addition to clinical hypnosis, John is also a certified practitioner of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming), Timeline Therapy™, Therapeutic Imagery, and EFT, (Emotional Freedom Techniques). He integrates these therapeutic modalities with a lifelong study and practice of Eastern and Native philosophies. John thus combines a practical and powerful blend of Western science and shamanistic spiritual wisdom to guide his clients in manifesting change, transformation, and spiritual empowerment. His practice focuses on personal growth and healing, behavioral modification, and performance improvement in the workplace, sports, and academics. His clients include celebrities, athletes, airline pilots, tradesmen, homemakers, corporate professionals, and children starting at about age 5-7.
John’s passion is helping people grow and enjoy a better life, and he brings over 25 years of leadership, management, teaching, and coaching experience to his clinical and corporate practice. As he likes to say, “Whatever the issue, whether it’s giving up a bad habit like cigarettes, winning on the PGA Tour, eliminating a fear or phobia, doing better in relationships, building confidence and self esteem, or finding one’s spirituality, it’s all the same process. I work with you to help you overcome limiting beliefs, decisions, and behavioral patterns that keep you from reaching your goals and obtaining the abundance in life that we all want and deserve. The tools I use— hypnosis, NLP, etc, are natural, safe, painless, and powerfully effective, and have been in use since the dawn of civilization.”
In addition to his Los Angeles clinical hypnotherapy practice, John is a frequent keynote speaker, lecturer, and facilitates seminars and workshops for an eclectic variety of civic and social groups, professional organizations, and corporations. “I love the chance to educate people and promote a powerful method for creating lasting change and improving virtually any facet of a person’s life.” For a list of upcoming events and appearances you're invited to visit the Events Page on this site.
